Welcome to Transafricasmile.com! Thank you for your time and interest in visiting our web page! We are Umberto Groppi and Andrea Mariani, creators of this marvelous project.

We met during a trip in Africa, and, finding out to have some common interests, we came up with the idea of creating such project. Our reciprocal passion for travelling, especially by motorbike, in order to experience different cultural groups, and our common interest for solidarity, were, however not before a few months of reflection, determinant in trying to work on such life-time dream.

In our perspective, the African continent resembles and gathers together these aspects:

Her colors, landscapes, quietness, tastes, fragrance, cultures, and the propensity of those who are driven to solidarity due to the extreme situations of need the African people are forced to face, and the devastating effects of social and land degradation.

For such reasons, we have planned this motorbike trip, as a catalyst to raise funds in support of various humanitarian projects, which will be visited as temporary destinations during our long journey.

With such purpose, we are working as creators of events that might firstly bind our initiative to humanitarian organizations in Africa, and secondly give them visibility, as well as the chance to show off their work and those projects we have decided to support.

Symbolically, TransAfricaSmile would like to unite all these projects. We are excited for creating this dream and for having found friends ready to share their effort in order to achieve these goals!

While sharing this project, another friend of us, Giacinto, decided to join us for the first part of the trip, up to Egypt! Great!
